George Morland

1762/63—1804. The son and grandson of painters, this gifted English artist had his first exhibition at the Royal Academy at the tender age of 10. The purity and simplicity of his rustic scenes, focusing on the countryside, animals, and homely family life, were often at odds with his profligate lifestyle. Nonetheless, Morland is considered one of the finest painters of English scenes.
